Looking for something fun to do with the family tomorrow? Saturday, October 3, 2026, is a great day to get out and enjoy Deerfield!
From fresh produce at the Farmers Market and fire trucks at the Fire Department Open House to fall ceramics, library activities and Deerfield High School athletics, there are plenty of ways to spend a fall Saturday right here in our community.
Start Your Morning at the Deerfield Farmers Market
Start your Saturday at the Deerfield Farmers Market, open from 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Park Avenue between Jewett Park Drive and Hazel Avenue, just east of the Metra tracks.
The market has been a Deerfield tradition since 1995 and features more than 25 vendors offering seasonal fruits and vegetables, flowers, meats, eggs, fish, cheeses, baked goods, prepared foods and specialty products.
It’s a wonderful place to grab breakfast or coffee, pick up something fresh for dinner and enjoy a Saturday morning in downtown Deerfield.
Visit the Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Department Open House
Here’s one the kids won’t want to miss!
The Deerfield-Bannockburn Fire Protection District is holding its 2026 Annual Open House from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fire Station 20, 500 Waukegan Road in Deerfield.
Families can explore fire trucks and emergency equipment, tour the station, watch fire and rescue demonstrations, participate in hands-on fire-safety activities and meet some of the firefighters and paramedics who serve our community.
There will also be a community blood drive for adults who would like to participate.
Get Creative with Spooky Ceramics at Jewett Park
With Halloween right around the corner, the Deerfield Park District is offering Spooky Ceramics at the Jewett Park Community Center, 836 Jewett Park Drive.
There are two sessions Saturday:
10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
1:00–3:00 p.m.
Participants will create Halloween-inspired ceramic pieces while learning basic ceramic techniques. Children under age 8 must be accompanied by a paid adult, and registration is required.
It’s another fun reason to spend some time around Jewett Park on Saturday.
Spend Some Time at the Deerfield Public Library
Don’t forget about one of my favorite Deerfield community resources — the Deerfield Public Library at 920 Waukegan Road.
The library is open 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on Saturday, and families with little ones can stop in for Saturday Surprise from 10:30–11:00 a.m. The program is designed for children ages 0–5 with an adult and can include storytime, playtime or a craft activity.
For older children and adults who like to create, the library also has an impressive MakerSpace, featuring equipment and technology for hands-on creative projects. The MakerSpace is normally open from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on Saturdays, although availability can change when scheduled programs are taking place.
And if your family’s idea of a perfect Saturday evening is staying home together, browse the library’s collection and pick out a movie for family movie night.
Cheer on the Deerfield Warriors
Fall is also a wonderful time to support our student athletes at Deerfield High School.
DHS has an extensive fall athletics program, including football, soccer, cross country, field hockey, girls volleyball, girls swimming and diving, girls tennis, golf and other sports.
Because athletic schedules and game times can change, check the official Deerfield High School athletic schedule before heading out:

Then put on your red and gray and cheer for the Warriors!
Enjoy Deerfield’s Parks While You’re Out
You don’t necessarily need a scheduled event to enjoy Deerfield.
If the weather cooperates, make a stop at one of our local parks and playgrounds. Jewett Park is especially convenient because the Farmers Market, Jewett Park Community Center and Deerfield Public Library are all nearby, making it easy to turn several of Saturday’s activities into one family outing.
Make a Day of It in Deerfield
One of the things I have always loved about living in Deerfield is the strong sense of community. You don’t have to travel far to find something enjoyable to do with your family.
You could start Saturday morning at the Farmers Market, stop at the Fire Department Open House, visit the library or make some Spooky Ceramics at Jewett Park, and finish the day supporting our Deerfield High School athletes.
That’s a pretty great Saturday — without ever leaving Deerfield!
As a longtime Deerfield resident and local real estate broker, I enjoy sharing not only what’s happening in our housing market, but also the community, schools, parks, activities and local resources that make Deerfield such a special place to call home.
